一、表比较和对比的过渡词语
similarly同样
【例】Similarly any proposed takeover would have had to go before shareholders.相似地，任何收购提议也必须通告股东。
Whereas然而
【例】The research of image and video is very important whereas their characteristic.鉴于图象和视频数据的这些特点，对图象和视频的研究就显得尤为重要。
【例】Improving research capacity in Africa is an equally important objective.
提高非洲的研究能力是一项同样重要的目标。
on the contrary相反
【例】'People just don't do things like that.'—'On the contrary,they do them all the time.'“人们根本不会做那样的事情。”——“恰恰相反，他们一直在那样做。”
different from与…不同

Equally important同样重要

in contrast with和…成对照

二、表因果关系的过渡词语
accordingly于是
【例】We have to discover his plans and act accordingly.
我们得找出他的计划，照着办。
Therefore因而
【例】He's only 17 and therefore not eligible to vote.他只有17岁，因此没有投票选举的资格。
because因为
【例】They are here because of us.他们是因为我们来这里的。
in this way这样
【例】In this way and by means of much talk he succeeded in converting a few to his party.用这个办法，费了不少唇舌，他把一些人争取到他的一边来。
Consequently结果，因此
【例】Relations between the two companies had,consequently,never been close.因此，两家公司之间的关系一直都不太亲密。
due to由于...
【例】The coast road is closed due to bad weather.由于天气恶劣，滨海公路暂时封闭。
for this reason由于这个原因
【例】For this reason,it is important to study its exploitation.为此，研究三岔河流域的煤炭开采在贵州具有十分重要的地位。
as result Of由……结果
【例】a change for the better as a result of correcting abuses.为了纠正弊端而进行更好的改变。
Thus因为
【例】Thus,he aided reaction and thwarted progress.因此，他帮助反动派阻挠进步。
